Week 6
1. Inbound marketing is a technique for drawing customers to products and services via content marketing, social media marketing, search engine optimization and branding. Outbound marketing is a traditional method of marketing seeking to obstruct potential customers. Outbound marketing includes activities such as trade shows, seminar series and cold calling. I think the brands that get most visibility are Coca-Cola, Samsung, and Visa. They are all huge companies that are able to pay for advertising.
2. Any non sponsored brand that gets visibility would be the companies that promote on the athletes themselves. A lot of the athletes will wear company logos on their uniforms or clothing that they are endorsing or who have paid them to advertise.
3. A core value of the Olympics is Olympism. This is the combination of the body, will, and mind. Blending sport and culture with education. I think intel or samsung could have similar values since technology has many qualities these days. You can learn new things on the Internet, or call your friends to get together to play a game of soccer.
4. I think this is a great Twitter account. It keeps us updated with everything that is happening during the Olympics. They add clips from the best moments so you can see everything even if you missed it.
Part Two:
Different cultures have different values which can really influence a product or how a product is marketed. If a company is based in the US and is trying to expand to Canada, they have to have values that Canadians would line up with. Differences in culture could lead to changes in products or new additions. McDonalds is a worldwide company but they don't sell just hamburgers and fries everywhere. They cater their menu around the culture it is inhabiting. In India, there is a large community of people who don't eat beef due to religion, so McDonalds had to change its menu to attract more people. They have to separate their kitchens so that the food is completely vegetarian and they add things to the menu like a paneer sandwich which is a type of cheese that they will fry. For something to succeed in a different culture, it likely has to be changed in some ways to fit in with the different cultures.
